Earlier this week I blogged about my Top 5 most memorable sporting experiences. But the best memories don’t have to be huge international events. Sometimes the memories closer to home are just as memorable. So here is part 2 of my blog – just that.
1. QRL Intrust Super Cup rugby league GF 2010 – my husband coaching my home team Northern Pride to their first ever premiership in the state wide rugby league comp (second tier to the NRL). Anyone who has been a coach’s wife knows how tough the ride and long the season can be. Not many more prouder moments than that day with our family and friends who had travelled to Brisbane from North Qld – and at Suncorp Stadium no less 😉
2. Many many years ago at university with my college rowing team winning the blue ribbon event of our own home regatta – the First Fours – coming from the position of underdogs to beat the undefeated boat. I went to a Catholic residential college on campus and I think we had divine intervention that day. Celebrations were on point.
3. Winning my first A grade netball premiership with the club I have been part of with since a schoolgirl and am a life member of – Brothers Leprechauns Cairns. With dear friends and against dear friends. In the moment it seems you are on top of the world (the city anyway…) and no one can take it away from you after a year’s hard training. We nearly got a tattoo mid celebrations that night – yeah glad I didn’t go through with that though!
I look forward to when my son is old enough to love sport and creating many more sporting memories with our family to come.
